Richa Mittal

I am a working professional in VLSI industry, with an MSc in IC Design from NTU, Singapore. Singapore has a well established network of major industry leaders, and it is constantly expanding. I am lucky to be associated with some of the top semiconductor organisations and working in fields like Design, Verification and DFT. While working in the frontend roles, I often interact with multiple teams in this widely distributed structure, such as Physical-Design/STA teams, Firmware teams, Product Engineering teams, ATE Test engineering teams, including application and marketing teams. I am passionate about working in this fast paced chip-design industry and making an impact in the tech-driven world.

Experiences
ADVANCED MICRO DEVICES : Digital Design Engineer (RTL)

2023 – Present

Working with Serdes Technology group to develop high-speed transceivers.

MARVELL ASIA PTE LTD : Digital Design Engineer (DFT)

2021 – 2023

After 3 years of working in design and verification, I was curious to explore DFT again and took up a role as DFT engineer, which falls under ‘digital design’ in many organisations. My role has responsibility of handling DFT module in the design, inserting different test structures, test pattern generation and verification ( RTL/Gate-level) and support test teams.

STMICROELECTRONICS : Digital Design Engineer (RTL + DV)

2018 – 2020

As a fresher in the industry right after graduation, my job as a Digital Design Engineer played a crucial role in my professional development. As a designer, I got ample opportunities to work on important protocols, memories and analog test models. My responsibilities ranged from implementation of RTL modules and IP integration using Verilog/SV, development of test-plan, testcases to analysis of complete code/functional coverage. The role demanded constant interaction with various other teams, which accelerated my learning.

INTEL : Design For Test Engineer Intern

2017 – 2018

As a DFT intern, I worked on implementation of hierarchical DFT structures – wrapped cores, as a research project for the dissertation titled as “ANALYSIS AND ARCHITECTING OF HIERARCHICAL DFT FLOW“. The project included application of test compression techniques (EDT) using Tessent tools ensuring proper optimization of scan structures.

EDUCATION

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

MSC Integrated Circuit Design

I received an opportunity to study masters in one of the top universities of the world in Singapore. This specially designed industrial course, which integrates the content of TUM, Munich and NTU, Singapore, equipped me with required up-to-date skills in the industry. I was awarded DAAD scholarship in two semesters based on my academic profile, which further motivated me to keep working towards my dreams. I focused on Digital courses more since I had made my decision to go into Digital domain and secured a great internship and dissertation opportunity with Intel.

USICT, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi

BTech Electronics and Communication Engineering

Determining an engineering stream is not an easy task, especially when we are straight out of school and lack proper guidance. Despite CS being the most popular field, I chose ECE without much knowledge and understanding of the industry. My main motivation was the ‘electricity and semiconductors’ part of physics, which I enjoyed most. With every subject I studied, my understanding and my interest developed stronger. I was bestowed with the highest honor for a university student, as I was announced a gold medal winner in 2016. After under-grad, I was adamant on taking up a job in IC industry and hence, decided to pursue masters degree to strengthen my skills.
